Cloud Storage

Cloud storage is a service that allows data to be stored in cloud environments, provided by service providers to both businesses and individuals on a commercial basis. This service can be accessed from any internet-connected device, making it useful not only for storage but also for transferring information.

The main benefit of cloud storage is the ability to scale resources almost without limit — clients can store any amount of data in the cloud. The terms of storage and access are defined in a contract.

Advantages of Cloud Storage

  • Service-based storage: The provider fully manages the infrastructure and ensures access based on the agreed terms.
  • Sharing capabilities: Cloud storage can be easily shared with others.
  • High security: Data is stored across multiple remote servers, ensuring robust protection.
  • Flexible resource management: You only pay for the storage capacity you actually use.

Disadvantages of Cloud Storage

  • Dependence on the internet: Access to data is only possible with an internet connection.
  • Legal requirements: Some laws mandate that certain commercial and governmental organizations store critical data within the country’s borders, which can either limit cloud storage options or introduce additional costs and complications.
